History of Our Hotel
Nais Hotel is more than just a place to stay — it is a living part of Durrës’ cultural and political history. Set in a 1930s Italian-style building, the hotel once served as the home and law office of Attorney Hysen Myshketa (1885–1943), a prominent Albanian figure. He played a key role in the country’s independence, served as the mayor of Durrës, a judge, and a member of the first pluralist parliament. His lifelong dedication to democracy led to his assassination in 1943 by communist guerilla forces. Today, he is honored with titles such as “Martyr of Democracy” and “Pride of the Nation.”
The building has since been transformed into a charming boutique hotel with 13 renovated rooms. It retains its historical character while offering guests modern comfort, spotless interiors, floral details, and a rich homemade breakfast. Located in the heart of the old city, near archaeological sites, main boulevards, and restaurants, and just a 15-minute walk from the beach, Nais Hotel offers visitors a warm, family-run atmosphere that feels like home — steeped in history, hospitality, and quiet elegance.
